The Advanced Television Training Course creates an atmosphere
of intense pressure. Participants will be prepared to face
the media in difficult situations. The course is led by a
high profile, experienced investigative journalist in addition
to MTI course trainers. All major interview styles are covered
during the day: face-to-face / down-the-line* / door-stepping**
/ press conference.
The training day progresses using a realistic incident scenario:
* Down-the-line: a common form of interview
used by the television networks, which involves an interviewee
being in one location with only the means of an earpiece
and a camera as contact with his/her interviewer, who could
be on the other side of the world.
** Door-stepping: the re-creation
of a scenario where the media arrive at the front door of
the office or the home of a company executive. Participants
further strengthen presentational and message transference
skills through exposure to this high intensity environment.
The final objective of the course is to provide the confidence
to deal with a hostile interview, ultimately contributing
to providing fair and balanced reporting with the aim of
protecting the company’s reputation.
