SERVICES
"A number of factors are combining to increase the frequency, complexity and types of crises companies face. Organisations must ensure they stand ready, respond effectively and recover stronger."
An industry leading reputation, built over many years, can be irreversibly damaged during a crisis by an action, comment or decision taken in the heat of moment.
Decisions made in the minutes and hours after disaster strikes can be critical.
Conversely, an incident well-handled can do much to enhance an organisations reputation with its customers and peers.
Ensuring an organisation has resilience embedded into its culture could be the difference between a crisis morphing into headline news or transforming into a minor internal challenge.
By providing a critical, impartial and fully independent external lens, MTI Network’s highly experienced response service works in tandem with your company’s internal organisation and stakeholders to ensure a smooth, timely and transparent response to public, media and governmental interest.
Our aim is to ensure clients effectively communicate and arrive at a successful conclusion to incidents and issues of any size or scale.
Managing risk or uncertainty form the backbone of any continuity and response plan. While we cannot predict the future, through years of experience MTI can help you shape your internal policies, and stress test your organisation’s resilience through training, drills and exercises.
Having handled most of the major maritime incidents over the past two decades, we aim to make firms confident to take on whatever is thrown their way - giving sanctity of mind to management, employees and business partners in advanced of incidents or issues arising.

- – Social media policies

Poseidon is a high-intensity crisis simulation tool designed to “stress test” the Emergency Response Team (ERT) during a maritime incident.
Developed by MTI Network through years of hands-on experience managing and advising on a number of high-profile incidents, Poseidon is built around realistic, bespoke scenarios that assess how the ERT responds to a fast-moving crisis.
Participants must manage simultaneous communications with multiple stakeholders, including the crew onboard the vessel, senior management, commercial partners, the media, insurers, next of kin and many more.
Poseidon tests leadership, coordination, communication, and decision-making under intense pressure, while the Emergency Response Team maintains operational control, gathers critical information, and ultimately shapes how the company’s response is perceived when the stakes are high
Following the exercise, participants receive a structured debrief and a detailed report evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the response, along with practical recommendations for improvement.
“Before anything else, preparation is the key to success” – Alexander Graham Bell
Learning how to respond to a crisis, during one, is a shortcut to failure.
Our industry recognised media training courses provide employees at all levels, from seafarers to management, with the experience and techniques on how to respond appropriately during the pressure of an incident.
MTI offers the following training formats:
- Advanced Media Response
Aimed at management or spokespersons this course seeks to prepare participants to actively engage with the media through various interviews, press conferences or door-steps (media ambush).- Conducted over a full day this course is very practical and interactive giving participants the opportunity to practice dealing with the media during a realistic incident
- Basic Media Response
This course prepares office staff in how to deal with the media during an incident when they are not the company spokesperson.- This course typically lasts half a day and includes realistic media calls, door-step interviews (media ambush) and the use of social media to give participants experience in these situations
- eLearning – NEW
- Family/NOK Response
Aimed at the crew management or personnel who deal with crew and their families.- This course prepares them for dealing with the challenges of communication with Next of Kin during an incident.
All participants of MTI courses receive an accredited certificate upon completion.
Investors and business partners are asking for more clarity from shipping companies on ESG reporting and target setting. This opens the door to many probing questions that can potentially harm reputation.
MTI Network is a fully accredited SASB (Sustainability Accounting Standards Board) Alliance member.
SASB is an organisation which sets financial and sustainability reporting standards to assist clients with the potential minefield of ESG disclosure, sustainability discussion, and target setting.
From the SASB documentation, we have created a metric collection sheet, which meets the SASB disclosure standard, as well as incorporating important aspects of the UN’s Principles for Responsible Investing (PRI).
This documentation can now be turned into an ESG Long Form Report and ESG Markets document for wider distribution; both with a comprehensive survey of sustainability factors, so providing greater confidence to investors, financial institutions and business partners.
For those more advanced in ESG matters, we are now offering ‘Materiality sessions’ and ‘Benchmarking’ on an anonymous basis.
The first step is to disclose the metrics you measure, and competently discuss what future steps are being taken on Environment, Social and Governance issues. It is all about progress, and now offers a huge opportunity for those that find themselves ahead of the curve.CONTACT US
